Narrow restaurant furniture layouts that keep a 36-inch lane open
Stand in the doorway of a shop ten feet wide and you can see both walls, the register and every table at once.

A layout is a series of small decisions about where people walk: from the door to the counter, from the pickup shelf to a seat, from the kitchen to a table. These guides test routes, waiting spots, narrow plans and a full worked floor plan.
Draw the paths before the furniture, and walk them with a tray. Then place chairs and tables so every path stays open at the busiest minute of the morning. A paper mockup on your own floor will show you a pinch point faster than any drawing, and it costs nothing to move.
