How to order

How an order goes, from cafe plan to unpacked pallet

In this guide

This is the whole trip, from a bare floor to an unpacked pallet. Nothing is charged until a person has read your order, so no clock is running while you work through it.

Measure, then pick for one zone

Take a tape measure to the counter, the window, and the back room. Write down the floor space and the counter height. Then open the cafe furniture shelf, or any category, and pick for one zone at a time. Sizes on the product pages are in inches, so you can check each piece against your numbers.

Choices get easier when the piece, its zone and its price live in one cafe plan.

One rule to know now: order at least eight pieces, counting tables and chairs in any blend. Booths are exempt from that minimum.

Set every option

Each product page asks for its options: frame finish, stain, seat, upholstery color, top size, whatever that piece offers. The price on the page is the configured price of the options you chose, and freight isn't in it. A line is one configuration: take the same chair in two finishes and you have two lines.

Some lines are made to order. That covers upholstery off the list, a special-order finish or stain, and sizes or shapes that the standard line doesn't include. Custom items take longer. Once confirmed, they cannot be cancelled or returned.

Save the zone to a cafe plan

A cafe plan holds configured items, quantities, notes, and the prices saved with them. Plans are stored in your browser on this website only, with no account, and one browser keeps up to 30. A different browser, or cleared cookies, closes the plan off, so download a project sheet once the counts feel right. When a plan moves to the basket, each saved price is checked against today's catalog and repriced.

Send the order

In the basket, read each line and count once more. Then add your name, your email and the ZIP code you're shipping to, plus notes for the driver. Good notes cover:

  • The door, any step or stairs, and where a truck can stop
  • The hours someone will be there to receive, and who signs
  • Any extra you want booked: liftgate, inside delivery, limited access, or residential
  • A PO number, if you have one
  • Tax-exempt status, or a note that you are buying for resale

Extras are booked at this point and charged extra. Want the order on your own carrier account? Say so here as well. Then submit. Nothing is charged.

Someone reads every line

Nothing is charged at this stage. Someone on our side goes through the order line by line, and within one business day an email comes back with the final order, the freight cost to each delivery address and the way to pay. Read it against your plan. If a stool doesn't suit the counter, this is the cheap moment to say so.

Paying

The invoice arrives once a person has read the order and the freight is settled. Accepted: Visa, Mastercard, and American Express cards, plus check, money order, and wire transfer. Pay for standard orders before they ship. Custom orders work differently: 40% up front as a deposit, and the rest due before delivery.

Waiting, then receiving

Standard items need between 14 and 21 business days. Custom work can run as long as roughly 8 weeks. Transit is added, and it's an estimate. A bigger order may leave in several loads. When the truck comes, be ready to unload within roughly half an hour and follow the checklist on the delivery page.

Reordering, or matching a room you already have

The finish and upholstery lists move on over time. For a reorder, or for chairs that must match a room already open, request a new swatch and check the color against the room before you order. Free samples cover swatches of upholstery, stain and finish samples for wood, swatches of metal finish, and a sample of table top material. The samples page has the request form. They ship by UPS Ground, and an email confirms your request within one business day.

When something changes

Spot a mistake after sending? Email us right away and open the subject line with ORDER. After confirmation, a change needs agreement from us in writing, and freight or restocking costs may follow, as the returns page explains. Stuck on a size or a count?
